Doctrine Guide: Buckler Infantry
Unit Synergy:
– Men at Arms | Prefecture Guards | Condotterris | Elite Squires
Reason:
The impact damage from charge doctrines provides a massive initial burst. This is followed by sustained pressure using Cover Commander and Rampage skills (e.g., Prefecture Guards, Condotteri). When combined with Iron Side and Block doctrines, this setup becomes especially deadly, offering both offensive burst and defensive resilience.

Alternative for flanking and in -and out tactics | Works insanely good with Men at Arms every 6-9 second Charge

Note:
There is also a Defense Impact Damage Doctrine build, which is especially recommended for Men-at-Arms. Most other Cover Commander or Charge units tend to have lower defensive stats and are better suited for high burst damage roles rather than sustained defense.. You can still use it, but not recommended on non Men at Arms.

Buckler Unit Focus:
For buckler units with a tankier kit, you should prioritize Block and % Damage Reduction doctrines.
Block enables the unit to absorb more damage while staying in Attack Formation and continuing auto-attacks effectively.
Note:
The Noble Blood doctrine can be swapped out for Movement Speed or Leadership doctrines, depending on your composition and strategic needs.
This build Synergies with:
– Paladins
– Azaps
– Palace Guards

Finally the: „I charge you die“ doctrine build:
In short: Every buckler infantry that is focused on charges as in:
– Tseregs
– Ironcap Swordsmen
