[Lionfire] Season Unit Spotlight: Reitar Pistoleers (T3)

Reitar Pistoleers (T3) – Unit Guide

Overview

The Reitar Pistoleers are a Tier 3 cavalry unit introduced in the Lionfire season of Conqueror’s Blade. Inspired by Gustav II Adolphus’s military reforms during the Thirty Years‘ War, these mercenary cuirassiers combine close-range gunfire with swift melee charges, embodying a hybrid combat style that disrupts enemy formations

Historical Inspiration

During the Thirty Years‘ War, traditional heavy cavalry began to evolve. Gustav II Adolphus of Sweden reformed his cavalry by replacing cumbersome lances and heavy armor with short muskets and lighter gear, enabling rapid, close-range engagements followed by decisive sword charges. This approach marked a significant shift from the prevalent „half-wheel“ tactics of the time.

Unit Traits & Mechanics

  • Dual Gunner: Equipped with a pair of modified pistols unaffected by rain, allowing for consistent performance in various weather conditions
  • Close Shooting: Specializes in high-accuracy, close-range shooting that can effectively damage and control heavily armored enemies.
  • Hybrid Combat: Combines ranged attacks with swift melee charges, making them versatile on the battlefield.

Skills

  • Roar of Powder: Fires special gunpowder bullets at the target, dealing significant damage and causing a knockdown effect. After firing, both pistols enter a cooldown period during which regular attacks cannot be performed.
  • Tearing Strike: Executes several fierce thrusts with a knightly sword at close range, delivering substantial melee damage.

  • Hit-and-Run: Engage in swift assaults against isolated units or artillery, then retreat before sustaining heavy losses.
  • Support Role: Coordinate with frontline units to disrupt enemy lines, creating openings for allied forces.

Tips & Tricks

  • Timing is Crucial: Ensure Roar of Powder is used at optimal moments to maximize its knockdown potential.
